New Patient Experience

First Dental Visit

We consider your first visit to be the most important appointment you will have in our office. Your oral health examination will be unlike any other you have received in another dental office. The approach will be thorough and comprehensive. You will be encouraged to ask questions and voice concerns throughout the process. We will seek to understand your current oral concerns and any underlying factors that affect your smile. We then co-diagnose any problems or issues and together determine what type of treatment might be appropriate for you after discussing the options.

What to Expect

At your examination appointment, we would first like to get acquainted with you. We will review your medical and dental history. We will take necessary digital dental images and photographs that will aid in making a diagnosis, developing a treatment plan, and predicting your future dental health.

This exam will include:

  • Head, neck, and muscle exam
  • Oral cancer screening
  • TMD analysis
  • Bite analysis
  • Full periodontal exam
  • Cavity and tooth concerns
  • Smile analysis
  • Documentation of condition and existence of all pervious dental treatment

Your exam with Dr. Funke will take approximately an hour of your time. In our patient’s best interest, we may not be able to guarantee your visit with our hygiene team on the same day. It is very important to evaluate all your dental concerns and needs first and then schedule your appointments accordingly. To conclude your examination visit, we will give you an estimate of cost of your treatment plan. If your treatment plan is complex we may schedule another visit to consult with you about your dental needs to help you better understand your treatment options.

After your exam and treatment planning appointment with Dr. Funke, you will be invited to meet with one of our dental hygiene team members. Please click HERE to learn more about our dental hygiene and oral health department and what we have to offer!
