Porcelain Veneers Rochester MN
What are porcelain veneers?
Veneers are porcelain facings bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are used to whiten, close spaces, strengthen, or repair chipped or worn teeth. They are approximately 1mm thick (the thickness of a fingernail). The natural surface of the tooth is “shaved” off about the same thickness so that when the veneer is bonded to the tooth, the tooth doesn’t look or feel thicker.
Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. We place veneers routinely, and design each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile.
Will porcelain veneers look like normal teeth?
They better if they are done right! When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.
Dr. Funke teams with high quality labs that create a smile mockup for you to see what the veneers will look like before they are placed. The veneers look natural and enhance your smile. Check out our case we have competed above!

How durable are porcelain veneers?
Always remember that your teeth are tools for eating, not for opening or cutting nonfood items! With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade!
Dr. Funke will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains. When crafted and bonded properly porcelain veneers are very strong and can last many years. Though, we always like to remind our patients that our teeth are tools for eating, not for opening things! In the event that one veneer is chipped or broken, it is possible to replace only the affected veneer.
Are porcelain veneers bonded?
Porcelain veneers are placed on the teeth using several steps. The steps include lightly roughening the teeth using air abrasion, etched, primer and bond, and bonded using resin cement. The bond is very strong and it is not normal for the veneers to come off.
Can I eat normally with my veneers?
For the most part people can eat and chew normally with their veneers. You will always hear Dr. Funke tell patients that “your teeth are tools for eating and not tools for anything else!” We caution using your teeth to cut or tear hard to tough foods like taffy or tough meat jerky.
