Dental Implants

Replacement Teeth That Work

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants are tiny titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Dental implants are changing the way people live! With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life.

Dental Implants are artificial tooth root replacements that are used as part of the prosthetic (artificial replacement) dentistry in order to compensate for tooth loss. Often the result is not only an enhanced smile, but also a more youthful appearance, since missing teeth cause the face to collapse, making you look older. We can restore one tooth or a whole lower arch, whichever your needs dictate.

Dental Implant Procedure

Most patients report that the placement of the dental implant is better than the tooth removal procedure. The procedure involves numbing the area and preparing the area for receiving the dental implant – similar to creating pilot holes for screws. Radiographic images are made during the process to confirm proper placement.

Dr. Funke will evaluate the bone quality and determine if the area is a candidate for prolonged healing, healing cap placement, or immediate provisional restoration placement. There are times that bone grafting material will be placed in the area to better prepare the surgical site.

Healing typically takes between three to six months to allow the implant to fully integrate into the bone. The next steps would be digitally scanning your teeth to design and fabricate you tooth replacement.
