Dental Bonding Rochester MN

What is dental bonding?

Bonding is an alternative to porcelain veneers and can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or misaligned.

How does dental bonding work?

The tooth is prepared for dental bonding by lightly sandblasting and etching the surface of the tooth. A bonding liquid is then gently scrubbed on the tooth. Once the liquid sets, a tooth colored resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape by Dr. Funke. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.

Will my insurance cover dental bonding?

Most times dental bonding is considered cosmetic in nature and not covered by insurance carriers.

What should I consider with dental bonding?

Complex esthetic cases may require more than one visit: impressions for a template and then placement appointment. Dental bonding is a conservative way to improve the look of your teeth. Always remember that the bonding is never as strong as your natural teeth. Care must be taken to prevent chipping and breaking of the material. Most dental bonding will last 5 to 7 years before needing touchups or replacements.
